Board of Directors and your Grange

Who makes decisions for your Grange? That is a question that every member of the Grange should know the answer too.

Ultimately, all authority to act for and in the name of the Grange lies with its members!. This authority must be exercised at a legal meeting of the Grange i.e. regular or special (with proper notification of the membership)

A committee authorized by the Grange, may have limited power to act in the name of the Grange. For example, a building committee is empowered by the Grange to oversee the replacement of a waterline into the Grange Hall. The committee could authorize the installation of a 1 inch pipe in place of a 3/4 inch pipe, if that was part of the instructions to the committee. A committee of the Grange nevers has more powers or authority than what was granted to it when it was created. Just remember that a part (the committee) is never greater than the whole (Grange).
